Vessel with Lizard

Southwestern Desert Mesquite Wood

24"L  x  10"H  x 13"W

This piece including lizard was formed from a single piece of mesquite wood. The dynamic and balanced proportions of the reptile lend this piece a special quality of interest. Upon completion, the vessel was unbalanced due to the lizard weight on one side. The bowl was counter balance by cutting an opening from below in the opposite side pedestal leg, and filling the hole with lead. It worked out pretty nifty.
