Companion

Southwestern Desert Mesquite Wood

21"L  x 13"H  x 14"W

This combination of lizard and desert tortoise was formed from a single piece of mesquite wood (yes, including the lizard). It is one of my most recent and successful pieces. The dynamics of the two critters keeping an eye out from both ends, is a studied action frozen in time. As this is a very large piece, weight was a concern. This was resolved by hollowing out the underside and inside of the wood piece, this making the work most manageable. It is one of my favorites.
